- Muscular Dystrophy
- Huntington’s Disease

Acquired Brain Injury and Spinal Cord Injuries
Damage to the brain or spinal cord will typically result in physical disability but can also sometimes affect their behaviour, personality and cognitive abilities. Therefore, each individual’s needs greatly vary and so too will the level of care and support they need.
A brain injury occurs from an incident or accident that has resulted in one or more areas of the brain being damaged, resulting in learning disabilities or loss of cognition. This in turn can have an impact on physical movement and daily living skills.
The care that may be needed could include assistance with personal care, prompting and assisting with daily tasks which they could independently do before the injury. Some clients may have a client-specific daily routine or therapy programme that they need to follow.
Urinary or Bowel Continence for Individuals with Complex Care Needs
At Anksley Care and Support we provide care for people of all ages with bladder and bowel conditions. Continence needs can vary greatly depending on the medical conditions and the person’s level of independence. This includes support with catheter and stoma care and management of incontinence and constipation. Our nurse-led teams are also trained to detect early signs of potential complications such as autonomic dysreflexia as well as providing specialist skills such as digital stimulation as required.
Disability or Mobility Support
Caring for patients with mobility issues presents a unique set of challenges. These challenges can be as a result of an injury, a chronic condition like muscular dystrophy or Parkinson’s, an amputation or the kind of limited mobility that comes with old age. Support includes:
- Assisting with moving around the home and in and out of bed.
- Personal care.
- Assisting with feeding.
- Helping them get out and exercise.
- Supporting attendance to work and joining with social and community activities.
